There are an abundance of edible delights waiting for you to discover in your backyards and wild places. In today's presentation learn about wild edibles, both native and invasive, that grow in our area and how to identify, responsibly forage and prepare them for safe consumption. I will also provide resources and personal recipes in addition to a question and answer session.

Originally from Florida,  I moved to the Northeast 11 years ago with my wife to help with an aging parent and decided to go back to school and change career paths. I had been a chef for the last 10 years and wanted to pursue a career in the environmental sciences, my other true passion. I received a scholarship from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to attend East Stroudsburg University and got my B.S. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Geography focused on Watershed hydrology and ecology. Foraging in this temperate region came as a natural fit, being out in the landscape working and my love of food led me to learning what nature had to offer. I used guides, workshops, online forums, friends and my local community.  I started as an intern for the Musconetcong watershed association and my mentor introduced me to Stroud water research center and I did a dual internship between the two and  am now the Water quality field Specialist for the MWA and the Field technician for SWRC in the northern Delaware watershed. I have founded the Lehigh Valley chapter of the Native plant Society with a colleague and my wife and have been giving free educational plant walks since our inception.
