Garden Walking Tour

10:30- 12:30

Haverford Library

1601 Darby Rd. Havertown, PA

Free Event ,  Advance Registration Required

You are invited to attend the free  Rain Garden Workshop and Garden Walking Tour. Rain gardens can help reduce and control flooding by decreasing the rate and volume of stormwater runoff. As soil and plantings absorb the rainwater, harmful chemicals and nutrients are filtered, which helps keep our drinking water safe.

Learn about the importance of rain gardens, how they work, and how you can build a rain garden in your own yard and help build rain gardens throughout our community.

Speaker: DCVA's Derron LaBrake, Principal of Wetlands & Ecology, Inc., a Certified Ecological Designer, Professional Wetland Scientist, a Board Member of Darby Creek Valley Association watershed protection group, and a leader in Haverford Township’s Hav-A-Rain Garden program.

Followed by a walking tour of residential rain gardens.

Please help us keep events like this free. Donations are appreciated but not required.

Rain Gardens reduce flooding and storm water pollution, improving water quality in our streams and rivers for aquatic life and recreational users.

What is a Rain Garden?

Beautiful landscaped areas built down, instead of up, intercepting runoff from buildings, driveways and other impervious surfaces before it can reach the storm sewers and streams. Small gardens are typically 6-12 inches deep and drain within a day or two after a rain. Plants are water and drought tolerant and need little or no watering after they are established..

This is a free event , advance registration is required
