DCVA's Easttown Tree Replenishment Program (sponsored by PECO)

Has PECO's tree removal or trimming affected your property?  PECO is providing funds to purchase trees for a Tree Replenishment Program in Easttown.  At the recommendation of Easttown Township, the process is being coordinated by Darby Creek Valley Association (DCVA).

Do you live on Darby Creek?  You, too can take advantage of this opportunity to create a riparian buffer along the creek on your property.  Riparian buffers typically consist of trees and shrubs planted along the stream edge to hold soil, shade the water, and provide habitat for birds and other wildlife.  Land within a riparian buffer is not mowed or treated with chemicals.

Register to come to an information meeting in order to learn more.  We will also need to learn more about your property in order to provide the best trees for your situation.

Information Meeting

  • Date:   Wednesday, May 8, 2019

  • Time:7:00 pm

  • Location:  1230 S. Leopard Lane, Berwyn (this is a residence;  park on the street and walk up the driveway.)

About the trees:  Trees will be native species suitable for your property (sun or shade, wet or dry).  You will be instructed as to how to plant the trees and how to care for them. Most likely, the trees will need to be planted with tree tubes (also provided) in place to protect them from deer.  The tubes are removed once the trees grow enough to split them.

Homeowners will receive a few to several trees, depending on demand.

For more information:  Contact Sue Miller, suedcva@gmail.com

Attendance is required for anyone who is requesting a trees for their properties. Everyone will learn where, how deep, etc., to plant the trees and how to take care of them. Attendance will help to determine how many trees can be distributed to each homeowner, and the type that they should take, based on where they want to plant them, the height, the water tolerance, etc.

You can have someone else pick up trees and have them planted under certain circumstances. Contact Sue Miller for exception. The homeowner still needs to attend workshop.

This is a PECO Sponsored Event
